Win a Pair of Customised Dog Socks!!!!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi dog pals,

Guess which colour pair of socks I am ordering and your human can get a pair with your lovely face on!

Hum was contacted by Andrew Epprecht who is a college student and entrepreneur at Duke University. He recently started a custom sock company with his brother called OurSock.com. https://www.oursock.com/

The socks are rather fab-u-lous my friends as your humans can upload their favourite photo of you and get it put onto a pair of socks!

That’s right dog pals – your humans can have their furry friend’s face on a comfy pair of custom socks.

All they have to do is upload the photo of their choice and the designers will crop, resize and position your image on the socks of their choice.

Moreover, Andrew has offered us here at Have Dog Can Travel a pair of socks for Hum with my face on BUT if you can guess which colour socks I choose to be on, your human can get a voucher for a free pair of socks!!!

The first 10 people to guess correctly will get sent a voucher and be able to create their own Custom Dog Socks!

Get your Humans to message Hum via the website or through Facebook please. (Have Dog Can Travel)

Good luck and happy guessing,

Bring Your Dog to Work Day: Friday 22nd June

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Office Doors Open Wide to Canine Co-workers

Pets are taking centre stage today for Bring Your Dog to Work Day and the launch of the 6th annual Family Pet Show at EventCity Manchester.

The Family Pet Show hosted an event in Manchester’s most pet friendly offices, WeWork, where work space was taken over by furry friends including Britain’s Got Talent’s favourite dancing duo, Lucy and Trip Hazard and Safari Phil with his critters including a very sexy Tarantula called Miss Foxxxy Love.

The pet extravaganza that takes place annually at EventCity is the only indoor event that allows thousands of families to bring their pets along.

Bring Your Dog to Work Day, founded by Hownd, sees workers across the nation bring their dogs to work to raise thousands of pounds for dog charities. Having your pet by your side at work is known to reduce stress and even boost productivity.

Workers who bring their pups to work with them every day came together for the event where Lucy & Trip Hazard gave a private performance; a great alternative to a standard coffee break!

PDSA Petsurance, sponsors of The Family Pet Show were on hand to talk to owners about the vital role Pet Insurance plays in ensuring pets can lead happy healthy lives and how PDSA Petsurance supports the life-saving work of pet charity PDSA.,

PDSA were offering pooches who work in the building their ‘PetWise’ MOTs which assess the five elements pets need to be healthy and happy.

Tina Sleigh from PDSA Petsurance said “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Family Pet Show to encourage owners to protect their beloved companions from unplanned vet fees.”

The Family Pet Show attracts thousands of families each year, held in Manchester’s EventCity on the 6th and 7th October. The action-packed weekend will see the return of many favourite’s including Scruffts, the nation’s favourite crossbreed

competition, Cat World, Safari Phil, Crocodile Joe, Alpacas, miniature ponies, James Bowen and Street Cat Bob as well as Lucy and Trip Hazard from Britain’s Got Talent.

Carrie Mosley, Managing Director of The Family Pet Show said “We know pets are a very important part of the family which is why we created the Family Pet Show which is the only indoor show where visitors can bring the whole family, including their pets. It made total sense for us to launch this year’s show and celebrate Take Your Dog To Work Day with WeWork who also believe that pets should be a welcome In the workplace”

The best way to spend spare time at St. Pancras station with your dog!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello my dog pals,

You MUST get your Humans to read this! Hum has found simply the BEST way for us to spend spare time at St. Pancras station while waiting for the train!

The Hansom Lounge at the 5 Star St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is really DOG FRIENDLY and so you can stop for a bowl of water and a break and the Human-Folk can have coffee or tea or even a fabulous Afternoon Tea like we did! @StPancrasRen

Hum & I drop by most times we visit London so the lovely staff all know me now and look after me exceptionally well. They sneak me shortbread (when Hum isn’t looking) and make a fuss of me.

Sometimes I simply go and sit on the Grand Staircase and enjoy the whole wonderful luxury of the place. I mean this is where I belong – at a 5 Star residence. Shame Hum lets the side down…..

Well I must tell you more about that Afternoon Tea. If you are catching a train from St. Pancras or even King’s Cross and you can get there a couple of hours before your train is due, do get your Humans to book an afternoon tea in the Hansom Lounge.

The Hansom Lounge is beautiful and calm and luxurious and grand; the staff are attentive and yet discreet and the food is a delight to both the eye and the palette.

You can see the menu down the side of this but I can tell you that words can’t really describe how delicious the food was. And if you think it is expensive, then I can assure you, the Humans are bound to agree at the end that it is excellent value for what you get.

Of the sandwiches, I particularly enjoyed the chicken; the smoked salmon & cream cheese and the egg was good also. However, the rare beef was the star of the sandwiches and simply to die for!

Hum & Glenn Glenn really enjoyed the lavender scones but I preferred the plain scone with clotted cream of course. I was only allowed a little bit but boy was it good!

Then Hum & Glenn Glenn tackled the stunning array of little cakes. I got to try the ice cream cone which was lovely but mostly they were too busy stuffing themselves and raving about how delicious it all was to share anymore. Never mind I was still in beef heaven.

Hum also loved the fact that there was a whole tea menu and you could have different tea with the different food as you went from savoury to sweet. And all served in elegant china tea sets.

All in all, a most pleasant way to while away an afternoon at the station! There are lots of other cafes and bars at St. Pancras Station but I think you will be hard pushed to find one so luxurious and yet super dog friendly where you can relax in beautiful surroundings before your journey.

Make sure you take your Humans and enjoy!

Happy 4th Birthday Zuki!!!!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi pup pals,

It’s my birthday and I’ll do what I want to!!!!!!

Well actually Hum & Glenn did my birthday celebrations yesterday ‘cos we was in Norfolk at the seaside which was much more fun! The WHOLE day was all about ME and I LOVED it!!!!!

The day started with a play on the beach and although I am sure Hum would have loved me to keep my hair dry and nice for the birthday photos, a ‘girl’s just gotta have fun!’ SO I splashed in the water and rolled in the sand and played ball and it was REALLY, REALLY good!!!!

Next on my birthday ‘to do list’ was a stop at the Beach Café for my favourite sausage roll and some fussing from James, the manager. @WellsBeachCafe

Well dog friends – you MUST take your humans there ‘cos not only are the sausage rolls the bestest in the whole universe BUT they now sell Doggy Ice Cream for us four-legs!!!! What a Super Duper dog friendly café!!!!

We went back to the Caravan after my snack and Hum gave me my birthday card and pressies. This year I got LOTS of wonderful gifts in a BIG box from @puppyessentials.

I didn’t much like wearing the party hat so made Hum wear that – doesn’t she look silly 😉 BUT the rest of the things in the box were ACE!!!! I got toys and biscuits and a donut and popcorn and well lots and lots of stuff (including a birthday cupcake). I really liked the green toy and had a game of tug with Glenn with it 🙂 What a great Birthday Box!!!!! Thanks Hum!!!!!

I also got a beautiful hand-made quilty from Aunty Jilly who lives in Australia. Isn’t it just stunning – and soft and great to curl up on! Thanks Aunty Jilly – I loves my quilty and I loves you too xx

Next on the agenda was a trip to a restaurant in Burnham Market called Socius @sociusnorfolk

Now Socius is not just dog friendly – it is positively amazing for us pooches! On Sundays, the humans can have a roast dinner but also on the menu is ‘Barney’s Doggy Roast Dinner’ – that’s right dog pals – a Sunday roast dinner specially made for us!!!!!!

SO all three of us could enjoy our own meals without Hum having to just share hers with me. I got mine in a special bowl and I got a mix of chicken and beef with veg and gravy. The photo above doesn’t do it justice as I had eaten nearly all the meat by the time Hum got her camera ready 😉

Hum & Glenn enjoyed theirs also – they both had beef and said it was cooked to perfection (that means pink in the middle I believe) and was the ‘Best Roast on the Norfolk Coast’ they had tasted!!! Praise indeed from Hum and also Glenn as this is the first roast dinner that came close to the one Hum makes him!!!!! It must have been good!!!! She does a good Sunday Roast you know!

After the yummy dindins, we sat in the little lounge area and the lovely Natalie (who owns the place with Dan) came and brought my little birthday cupcake with a candle in it for me to blow out! Well I did try but it isn’t easy for us little dog folk so Hum helped. They sang Happy Birthday and all said they hoped I had had a lovely day! How nice was that!!!

I was most impressed by it all and Hum thought it was amazing – Socius treated my birthday celebration dinner and cake with as much care and respect as they did a human birthday that was going on at the same time! They really did make me feel special and I had an absolutely wonderful day!

Do check out all the photos at the top of this to see how good everything was!

SO a BIG thank you to everyone who helped give me such a lovely birthday – not sure how Hum can top it next year but knowing her she will give it a go!!!

Zuki visits the dog friendly Boat & Horses, Chadderton, Oldham, Manchester

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again Dog Friends,

When Hum & I was in Manchester and staying at Travelodge Oldham, we ate at the dog friendly Boat & Horses Pub. @BoatandHorses ; @JWLeesBrewery

The Boat & Horses is right beside the Travelodge Hotel and beside the canal so in a great location.

Hum loved that you could sit outside in the sunshine and watch boats on the canal but I liked the fact that there were no restrictions in the very large bar area for us four-legs. We had a great choice of seating and found a lovely spot near the window where Hum could see the canal and I could keep in the cool and the shade.

The Boat & Horses has a daily Carvery which I must say was most popular and looked superb! They also have a Rotisserie so there are freshly cooked succulent chickens on the menu.

Hum however, chose the BLT Chicken Hot Sandwich (a toasted triple decker sandwich with roast chicken breast, crispy lettuce, bacon, tomato & mayonnaise) and it didn’t disappoint. Yummy chicken for me; crispy bacon and lots of salad stuff for Hum – REALLY Good!!!

Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their food also; the staff were extremely friendly and I was looked after – they made sure I had water and made lots of fuss of me!

Sadly, the Boat & Horses isn’t open for breakfast or Hum and I would have been there straight away! However, if you and your humans go there for lunch or dinner, you won’t be disappointed! And you can always have a lovely walk along the canal to give you an appetite for all that yummy food!

Zuki’s stay at Travelodge, Oldham, Manchester

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my dog friends,

Hum & I were back in Manchester, this time at the Travelodge Olham @TravelodgeUK as she was doing some training nearby and I must say our visit started SO well…

The Travelodge Olham was very easy to get to for Hum (she isn’t good at following Mrs SatNav’s instructions usually but managed just fine ).

When we arrived, Mica the manageress was extremely friendly and made a fuss of me. She told us how they love pets and indeed have two rescue puddycats at the hotel! Watch out puddycats there is a new boss in town – me!

We got our key to our room and it was very good. Security is excellent and Hum was very pleased to find a large room with windows overlooking the canal outside! Very happy Hum indeed as she loves her views and especially likes water.

The room was pretty standard Travelodge with a large comfy bed for Hum; good pillows; basic tea and coffee facilities; big TV and plenty of mirrors; lights and sockets. Hum thinks it provides good practical comfort at a very reasonable price.

The bathroom was clean and again practical with a good shower but as ever, Hum was missing a bath mat and face flannel. She doesn’t understand the bath mat situation at all as the floor gets very wet indeed. On a plus side, the mirror did de-mist quickly which she approved of!

I made a den with my toys under the big bed and we were very happy indeed. We enjoyed lovely walks along the canal and everything was great at first…..

However, Tavelodge Oldham does have a few downsides to it.

First of all they don’t have a bar/restaurant/café so any extra drinks you might want or snacks come from a vending machine. You can top up your tea and coffee supplies at reception and there is a ‘Breakfast Box’ available but Hum didn’t fancy it as it consisted of a small box of cereal; a muffin and some fruit juice and not much else. She didn’t think it good value for money or particularly appetizing.

There is a dog friendly pub next door for lunch and evening meals so you can have those meals there but they don’t do breakfast. This means if you have a pooch with you, you might have to leave them while you visit the Subway across the road. If you want anything more interesting, you would need to head into Manchester to the very dog friendly Northern Quarter with its coffee houses and bistro bars.

However, Hum was on her training course so took me to a little café near the training venue for Brunch but it is a shame the facilities at Travelodge Oldham don’t have as much to offer as some other Travelodge Hotels. we have been to. Guess they are simply stuck for space…. Lee the Manager next day told us the Breakfast Box will improve so hopefully you will find a more fulfilling Breakfast if you and your Humans visit….

In the evening we ate at the dog friendly Boat and Horses next door which was very good and enjoyed a good night’s sleep. It was hot but there was a fan in the room which kept us from overheating!

Our next issue at Travelodge Oldham was after we came back from Hum’s training and the room hadn’t been cleaned. Hum was most upset and asked the lady at reception if it could be done. However, the cleaning staff were long gone and I don’t think Suzanna was keen to leave reception and clean a room.

In the end, Hum suggested we move to a new room which was clean and so this was the chosen solution. We moved all our belongings down the corridor to the other room (pretty much the same as the 1st one but with clean cups; towels etc.) and settled in again.

It is a shame we had this experience at Travelodge Oldham as overall it was a pleasant stay and the staff really were Extremely Nice and Friendly and definitely make pets welcome. But sorry guys, I can only give you a 3 Paw Rating at this time.

Good Coffee & Brunch in Dog Friendly Manchester!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again my dog pals,

The last day of my visit to Manchester had Hum on a mission for Good Coffee and Brunch in Manchester! Dog friendly venues of course!

Just more or less opposite our hotel (Travelodge Manchester Ancoats), we came across this amazing little store! Ancoats General Store @ancoatsgs is a proper little grocery shop which is extremely dog friendly and serves great coffee! Hum was happy and so was I as everyone was SO perfectly welcoming and friendly and I got lots and lots of fussing and cuddles.

We walked a short way from Ancoats into the Northern Quarter for Brunch at the dog friendly Alabamas @alabamas_mcr.

Alabamas is an American style diner and dogs are allowed in the comfy booth seating areas. Alabamas has a lively atmosphere with an open kitchen where you can watch the chef cooking – he seemed to love what he was doing and made big flames come from his pan which excited Hum but concerned a little dog like me slightly…

Anyway whatever he did worked and we enjoyed an amazingly good brunch! Hum ordered the Eggs & Avocado on Rye which consisted of the best poached eggs we have had in a café/restaurant; yummy crispy bacon and for Hum the avocado; salad and rye bread.

The menu also has American favourites such as pancakes (which get rave reviews) and waffles as well as full cooked breakfast; vegetarian options and healthy stuff if you like that sort of thing…

I was very well looked after at Alabamas – nothing too much trouble – everyone made sure I had water and lots of cuddles so happy days.

There are lots of places in the Northern Quarter of Manchester to have Brunch but really you would be hard pushed to beat Alabamas for quality.

So if your humans are like Hum and love good coffee and great brunch you now know where to take them!

Dog Friendly Food & Drink venues, Manchester, Northern Quarter

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again dog friends,

Thought you and your Humans might like to know about more dog friendly places to eat & drink in Manchester.

We were staying right next to the Northern Quarter in Manchester so that is where we hunted out dog friendly bars and cafes and to our delight we found out there are actually lots in this part of Manchester!

Hum & I paid a visit to The Castle Hotel @thecastlehotel just round the corner from our hotel where we met up with Hum’s son Jack. The Castle is a pub with a long-standing reputation for live music and literary events, as well as its real ales. Jack had even played there with one of his bands which is super cool! Anyway, they treat us four-legs really well and are most welcoming and friendly. See me with Jack in the photo – he is really trying not to smile for Hum’s camera and I chose to join him and look away – it SO winds her up 😉

Nearly all the bars and pubs in the Northern Quarter welcome dogs but Hum and I found a whole street that is super dog friendly!!! Now that is pretty amazing!!! Totally cool!!!!!

Tariff Street is in the Northern Quarter and starts at one end with the dog friendly Tariff & Dale @TariffDale where they serve Classic Cocktails and British Beers alongside Modern British Food from the grill and Sourdough Pizza from their wood oven.

At the other end is the Pen & Pencil @penandpencilnq which has a New York inspired menu and is open all day for food, craft beers and cocktails.

In between you will find El Capo @ElCapoStKitchen, serving Mexican & Latin American dishes; Kosmonaut @kosmonautmcr, another craft beer bar which serves classic food with a twist and TAKK @takkmcr which is where Hum & I stopped for her to get her caffeine fix and me to get a refreshing bowl of water.

TAKK is a very creative place where humans sit at old school desks and drink artisan coffee and eat wholesome sandwiches and sticky cakes and chat about arty projects and work on their laptops and suchlike.

Hum certainly enjoyed her coffee and said the atmosphere was wonderful and I was brought a proper bowl of water and had lots of fuss made of me.

SO I think I am safe to say that if in Manchester drag your Humans to the Northern Quarter and in particular Tariff Street – you will be spoilt for choice!

Zuki visits 2 Dog Friendly Eateries in Manchester

[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again my dog friends,

Thought you and your humans might like to hear about a couple of really good dog friendly places to eat in Manchester.

The first night we were in Manchester Hum took me to a wonderful place in the Northern Quarter called Pie Minister. @pieminister

Now my friends, Pie Minister pretty much says what it does on the tin – it is a lovely little restaurant that serves pies. Lots of pies. Like only really pies with different stuff to accompany the pies. And my dog pals them pies are good!!!!

You can have Steak & Kidney Pie; Steak & Ale Pie; Pie with Chorizo; Chicken & Tarragon Pie; Vegetarian Pie – like lots and lots of varieties of Pie basically! Hum & I chose the Venison Pie and she had mushy peas; crispy shallots and gravy to go with it but I basically stuck with eating the pie and boy was that pie delicious! Heavenly Pie! A pie to die for!

Dogs are welcome in any area and the staff are very friendly to us four-legs and bring us water and look after us well. So if your humans like Pie this is where to go! Pie Minister have other outlets throughout the UK so if you can’t get to Manchester then check their website and find a Pie place near you!

The next night Hum and I headed to Ancoats (really close to the Northern Quarter in Manchester) to try out Rudy’s Pizza. @RudysPizzaMcr

Rudy’s is an independent restaurant in Manchester and they specialise in Neapolitan Pizza using their own home-made dough and the pizzas are different to most others in the UK as they remain soft and light after cooking.

I wasn’t sure at first when the pizza arrived as it didn’t look like any we have shared before but My Oh My dog pals that was one super-duper pizza! Soft, fluffy dough which Hum loved topped with fresh tomatoes for her and sensationally yummy ham and cheese for me!!!!

I think it must be the first time Hum & I have managed to finish a HUGE pizza between us!!!!

One thing to note for your Human-Folk – you cannot book a table at Rudy’s Pizza – you just have to rock up and see if a table is available. AND it is SUPER popular. When we went, we have over an hour to wait for our table but fortunately we could pop back to the hotel during that time and they did text Hum when the table was ready. We both agreed it was worth the wait but if you or your humans are super hungry then get there early![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5744″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
