Oscar’s Lounge and Restaurant, Calverton

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here I am hiding under the table at Oscar’s in Calverton. Hum booked to go with family for a pre-Mother’s Day lunch so a Saturday lunchtime. She checked if it was OK to bring a dog and they said ‘yes’ on the phone.

When we got there we were about to be shown into the restaurant but there was a bit of hesitancy. There was a large party of people near the front of the restaurant and I don’t think they found me as cute as most people do. A quick word to staff and suddenly the young nervous waiter did quick change of direction and we were shown to a table in the corner of the lounge.

Now Hum and her stepson were fine about this but felt if they had said from the start we wouldn’t have had that awkward moment. I just decided to keep out of the way under the table. The family had a great time in the end and the food apparently was delicious (Hum gave me some fish skin that was crispy and tasty) BUT I don’t think I’ll be going back soon.

One paw print for the family’s meals but none for dog friendliness – sorry 😦

Manchester Palace Hotel, Manchester

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello my doggie friends, Now this is a very grand place to stay. I feel very posh and therefore very at home 😉 Hum had better sort out her décor at home to match my standards. This is me at the Palace Hotel in Manchester. We stopped over when leaving Jack back to University and I must say our accommodation is miles better than his student room! We booked a Superior Room which Hum seemed surprised we were allowed in – not sure why but that is humans for you. Anyway I am so pleased they gave us a room where the cushions matched my blankie. How very thoughtful. Oh and just so you know, I may be testing out the furniture but did have my own bed to sleep in – note to all my doggy friends – always take your blankie so you can at least test the furnishings – Hum won’t let me on beds or chairs without it. We couldn’t eat in the bar or restaurant at the hotel so had to find a bar where I was allowed in for the evening. We went to BrewDog which was great (will tell more of that separately). However, in the morning I was SO excited – these two charming young men turned up to our room with a trolley laden with food – my favourite sausages and lots of fruit and healthy stuff for Hum! It was brilliant! Hope we can do this more often. I had a fabulous time! Can only give 3 paw prints as although the room was great and breakfast lovely it was a shame there weren’t places we could eat and drink on site. And the surrounding area didn’t have much scope for those morning ablutions (if you get my drift)..   Zuki[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1079″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Golden Fleece, Wells-next-the-Sea

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]So here we are in the Golden Fleece in Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. Hum has a caravan here and this is her favourite place to eat. I think because Izzy the Restaurant Manager and Steve the Landlord are just SO welcoming and friendly and do their best to put us on Hum’s favourite table in the back room by the fire. In fact from the very first time we came here we were made to feel really special and at home as is everyone. Nothing is too much trouble. Hum and her family say the food is excellent – the best fish and chips EVER, a great specials choice and freshly baked pizza! Add to that the fact they have a HUGE jar of dog biscuits on the bar counter and you can see why we can’t stay away J Photos of me in the front bar area perusing the menu to give Hum an idea of what I’d like to try and then in the back room comfy in front of the fire.

Got to be a 5 paw print rating.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1082″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Beach Café in Wells next the Sea

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my doggie friends,

Here I am at the Beach Café in Wells next the Sea. What wonderful place this is!

Outside they have the K9 Watering Hole for when we are thirsty after a good run on the beach. Inside is lovely and cosy with a log burning stove and lots of comfy seats with cushions with dog pictures on (must get one of me done !). They say that in the summer you can have a shower and get cleaned up in the ‘Dog Wash’ – must try that out!

Not sure if you can see but Hum (Human Mum) bought me a bag of Holkham Game Treats – very yummy! Last time we were here we got a little sample given to us – they are so very friendly here.

There is a Facebook page with photos of lots of dogs who have visited the café and there’s a lucky winner to be chosen from these to be crowned ‘Dog of the Year’ – again must get mine up there soon!

Would definitely recommend this to you and your humans – mine loves coming here for a bacon cob on a Sunday morning and her Mum was very partial to the home made cakes.

A definite 5 paw prints 🙂
