Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my doggie pals,

Had a lovely day out at the park surrounding Hardwick Hall. I didn’t see any of their Longhorn rare-breed cattle BUT I did meet some sheep for the first time ever! It was so exciting! Had a staring competition with a lamb and did want to round up some of the sheep but Hum told me I was not a sheep dog and so I had to be kept on my lead. It was a lovely place with walks round fishing ponds and fields to explore. Hum kept going on about how magnificent the view was so your humans might like that aspect too…

We walked up to the Hardwick Hall itself – dogs are not allowed into the Hall but they do have a polite notice and a bowl of water for us to refresh. There is also a nice grassy area at the back of the Hall where there are picnic tables and the stable block has a café and shops. I said ‘hello’ to lots of other dogs also enjoying the day out at Hardwick Hall.

The Hoste Arms, Burnham Market

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello again my four legged friends,

Back in Norfolk and this time Hum took me for lunch to the rather splendid Hoste Arms in Burnham Market. Apparently her late husband used to take her here when they were first dating – he must have been a great guy as this is really rather special. We were made to feel extremely welcome (lots of fussing for me and ‘oh isn’t she cute’ which I adore) and although shown many areas we could eat, the good weather meant the garden was really pleasant. I spotted a BIG dog bed and bowl of water on my way through so I guessed correctly this would be a lovely, friendly place to spend some time. Hum ordered lunch I could share – a rather splendid chicken Caesar salad – well the chicken and poached egg were delicious I must say; Hum had the green stuff which she ate heartily and told Mario the waiter was superb. The charming Mario also brought me a big bowl of water and all the dogs that were in the garden got biscuits. Just lovely and a very relaxing time was had by all. After lunch the hotel manager James came and took me to view one of the dog friendly rooms. Beautiful room near the garden with a small outside patio. Very impressive. Thanks to all who gave us such a nice time. I’ll be back!

Burntstump Country Park, Nottinghamshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello again my friends,
Thought I would share a great place with you. Hum takes me to Burntstump Country Park at least twice a week.
It is a great place no matter what the weather just to run and play and meet other dog pals.
I often meet up with my Cockapoo friend Bella and we usually see Zeus; Jackson; Coco; Harry; Ruby and many other regulars. Nearly forgot about Grace who is SO clever. She can catch any ball and lets it go for a treat but she is so fast she gets the treat and gets the ball back! I want to learn that trick!
Hum says she knows all the dog names but only knows the humans by their dogs – well that is as it should be – we are the important ones after all and they wouldn’t meet at all if it wasn’t for us!
There is a large open grassy area great for playing chase and ball games and then some wooded walks.
See photos of me and my pals in different weather conditions having lots of fun. If you are in the area do come and join us.

Hart’s Hotel, Nottingham

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi Doggy Pals,

Here we are a Hart’s Hotel in Nottingham and where do I start! First of all we had a wonderful welcome from the lovely Melissa and Klaudia – just check out the photo of me checking in! How clever am I! We were shown to a Garden Room – like how good was that – a room with our own garden! Well there were 5 other rooms opening onto it but mostly we had it to ourselves so I could explore and play freely. Had great fun chasing Mr Grunty Pig. Fantabulous I say! Got blankie out and checked bed for Hum. Very comfy. Hum said the mini bar even had fresh milk in it and there was ground coffee and a cafetiere. She got seriously excited about that and even called her Mum to tell her! Humans are so odd. Anyway Melissa suggested a walk to the canal which was quite lovely and we sat outside at the Water’s Edge bar (dogs not allowed inside) watching the boats go by. Then we walked into town to the BrewDog. BrewDog is dog friendly. Very. A bowl of water, some of Hum’s meat platter and lots of fussing later and we headed back. Hum’s comfy bed awaits her and I have brought my own. Only downside here is you can’t eat in the bar at the hotel and need to bring your own kit. BUT you can order room service and sit outside the Garden Rooms weather permitting which we did for breakfast which was simply delicious! Overall a very commendable 4 Paw Print rating.

Blidworth Woods, Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my doggie friends,

This is where Hum takes me for walks as it is nearby and I get off-lead to explore. Lots of lovely wooded pathways and of course Jan’s Van to get a dog sausage afterwards!

Holkham Estate, Holkham

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Went to Holkham Hall Estate at Easter with Hum & family. Look at me and Hum outside the Hall – don’t you think I look like I belong somewhere like this!

This place has a HUGE garden with a lake and all sorts to explore. We followed the Easter Bunny signs to the Walled Garden where there were activities for little people like Madeleine.

Look at the photo of me helping Madeleine follow the bunny – she is only a little human so needed me to show her the ropes. Had a great time and it was wonderful to find they have those yummy Holkham dog treats in the shop too!

4 paws – lots to explore but can’t be let off lead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Victoria Inn, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again doggy pals,

Back in Norfolk – Hum just loves it here. As we have listed the Victoria on places to stay I thought we had better go and check it out properly for my pals. When we arrived there was a bit of a welcoming committee waiting for me – think I am becoming famous! Anyway I was shown the rooms by the lovely Evie and you can see the nice bed, bowl and bag of treats they have waiting for us doggies! Lunch was great. The humans ‘ooed’ and ‘ahhed’ about how fresh and tasty their dinner was. I had found a bit of antler in the Estate grounds so I was very happy! We were also shown kennels which I was not so keen on but Evie said they were mainly for gun dogs when the shoots were on. Proper working dogs apparently. So we pets are OK with lovely rooms and beds to stay in.

Have to give a 5 paw rating.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1258″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Bosworth Hall, Warwickshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello fellow companions,

Winston’s the name and my dear friend Zuki has very graciously invited me to contribute to something she calls her blog. Tells me my travelling experiences will be invaluable.

Took a trip to Bosworth Hall in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire recently. Lovely country pile just the sort of place that suits me down to the ground. Wouldn’t mind moving in actually – the staff were lovely. Made us feel very welcome.

Delightful gardens to explore off lead, extremely comfortable rooms with disabled access if your human requires it. What more could a chap ask for?

Food-wise we’re allowed in the bar area at the Hall, but if you fancy exploring a bit, Ye Olde Red Lion hostelry just down the road offers some excellent food for the humans and a decent bowl of water too if you’ve worked up a bit of a thirst.

All in all a 4 paw printer and definitely worth a second visit.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1252″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

The Orange Tree, Thornham, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again my doggie friends, Now this is a proper dog friendly venue! Not only do they have 6 rooms where we can stay with our humans BUT in the bar they have a menu just for us! Take a look at the photo of me being shown the menu! I have been here twice now and the first time was given a bone almost as big as my head. Yum! Wanted to try the sausage roll last time but they had sold out – they are SO popular. Still we will be back again, hopefully to stop over next time (the rooms look lovely – very ‘chic’ Hum says) and I can work my way through the whole menu 🙂 Everyone we met was so kind to us and I got lots of cuddles; met other friendly dogs and didn’t want to leave. A definite 5 paw prints 🙂   Zuki[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1084″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

The Old Green Dragon, Oxton

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Only got a photo of the sign for this one – I think Ben, Hum’s son banned her from taking pictures inside – he is very camera shy and gets embarrassed when Hum starts setting up shots in front of everyone 😉

Anyway I would highly recommend The Old Green Dragon in Oxton to all my doggy friends and I know Hum has been raving about it to other dog owners.

Hum and family had a Sunday lunch here recently and when it was time to leave I was given a PROPER Doggy Bag – a tin foil parcel with lots of Sunday roast scraps! YUM-EEE!! All the dogs in the very pleasant bar area got one!

Big fat 5 paws to this one![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
