Broad Tours, Wroxham, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello again dog friends,

I promised you I would tell you about the boat trip we went on in Norfolk. It was Hum’s friend Tessa’s surprise birthday party and it was on the Norfolk Broads with Broad Tours.

Hum was very happy ‘cos she loves a boat trip and she loves Norfolk and she loves Tessa as Tessa introduced her to Phil (her dear late hubby).

We could see the Broad Tours boats from our balcony at Hotel Wroxham so we were only a short walk away from the start point.

The Broad Tours boats are dog friendly and I was welcomed on board along with Solo who was also joining us on the trip. Solo is a BIG dog but very sweet and gentle and he had his bed with him and everything! Why didn’t Hum think of that! Still I liked to walk around and meet everyone and explore so that was OK.

We were also greeted by Tessa who squealed with delight when she saw Hum and Tom, Aurelia, little M and of course ME!!!

The boat set off from Wroxham and we travelled along the water called The Broads and Hum caught up with all the family and friends and then we went up on deck so she and the other humans could take in the views and admire all the little houses by the waterside.

I was happy on this boat ‘cos I was allowed out and about not like the ferry to Ireland where I was left on my own in the car 😦 And this boat didn’t move too fast so I didn’t feel it was unstable either – I really enjoyed it!

Everyone said how well behaved I was and I didn’t disgrace myself unlike poor old Solo who seemed to think the ‘Poop Deck’ had that name for a certain reason!!! Oops!!

Inside there was a bar where I got a nice bowl of water and then there was LOTS of food – I particularly enjoyed the salmon – so much that poor Hum was yet again left with the green salady stuff – hey ho.

There were people playing music on the boat and Hum liked that too – I think she wanted to dance but everyone was glad I was there to stop her doing embarrassing ‘Mum’ movements 😉

So we all wished Tessa a Very Happy Birthday on Broad Tours and everyone agreed her hubby Alan had made a great choice.

Super day out and great time had by all!!!

Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hey Dog Friends,

So at the weekend Hum’s brother-in-law, Gerard was over from America and they decided to take me out into Derbyshire for a visit. Now Hum had been looking recently to see if there were dog friendly places to go in Derbyshire and discovered Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath.

Well she discovered it was dog friendly I mean – she used to take Jack and Ben there when they were little for a day out and so now it was my turn! Yeah!

Originally apparently the Heights of Abraham was only accessible by foot and that was one VERY STEEP walk. However in 1984 they installed cable cars so you could go from the bottom to the top in these little hanging sort of car things and catch the view. Oh and don’t we all know how Hum loves a good view!!!

So off we set and the nice man who sold Hum her tickets told us I was very welcome in the cable cars and on the walks but not in the buildings/caves.

Then we got to the cable car and Oh My, dog pals that was one SCARY thing! Like a sort of metal and glass bubble on a wire and you got in and the door sealed shut and then it went up and up and up in the air and it was swinging and I must admit I did cling onto Hum for all I was worth!

And there was Hum happily going on about the view and could Gerard take a photo of us and me thinking – ‘don’t move Hum! You’re making it wobble and swing! What if we fall? It’s a long way down!’ But of course we were fine and we didn’t fall and it was perfectly safe (Hum wouldn’t put me in danger) and she was SO happy with all her good memories I forgave her for thinking it is OK for dogs to fly.

At the top there was a lovely walk and lots of bowls of water for us four-legged folks and we saw view after view to keep the humans happy and I met other dogs and did lots of sniffing and it was all very good indeed.

Hum and Gerard stopped for a cup of tea at the Tavern and we met the lovely Dominic who made a HUGE fuss of me and told me he did all the Social Media stuff for Heights of Abraham and marketing and what-not so he was REALLY pleased to meet me and we will follow each other on Twitter and such-like. You need to look for #heightsofabraham apparently.

He told us how they tried to make the place as friendly for us four-legged folks as they could and put water out and about and they can’t let us in the caves for preservation purposes but they do really REALLY want us to feel welcome!

So a grand day out although I was happy when back on firm ground – don’t think I will take to flying any day soon!

Hotel Wroxham, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Well my dog pals,

It is a small world it seems. Human Mum (Hum) was invited to her friend Tessa’s birthday party which took place on a boat in the Norfolk Broads (will tell you all about that later) and she booked us into the Dog Friendly Hotel Wroxham.

Well what do you know – we knew the new manageress of Hotel Wroxham! It was only Wendy who we used to see up at the Golden Fleece in Wells-Next-the Sea with Steve! She took over Hotel Wroxham just 4 weeks ago – how amazing! And she is one stylish lady! That hotel is going to be super good when she is finished sorting it out!

As it is just now, the hotel is still a bit tired in places but then she has only been there 4 weeks and according to lots of people Hum spoke to, it was in a shockingly bad state! And Wendy said it took them ages just to clean all the dirt off the windows!

So back to my stay at the Hotel Wroxham. We got a great welcome from Tom who had taken our booking on the phone. He was really lovely, friendly and good fun! See photo of me with him 🙂 Hum did say it would have been nice to have had help to the room with our stuff but there weren’t many members of staff around so she just had to manage. And after all, this is not a 5 star establishment with porters and all so what exactly did she expect!

The room was really nice – big and bright and clean with a balcony overlooking the water – a really super view! And we know now how much Hum loves a good view. She was extremely happy with her balcony – said again and again and again – ‘isn’t this just LOVELY! What a BEAUTIFUL view!’ And there were chairs and a table so she could sit and watch the boats go by. So a happy Hum indeed. The bathroom needs a ‘Wendy refurb’ as Hum is now calling it – shower apparently not very powerful and the look a bit dated just now.

Downstairs there were 3 tables provided in the restaurant where I was allowed to sit with Hum for dinner and I could go anywhere in the bar and reception. Both the bar and restaurant enjoyed that wonderful view with floor to ceiling windows so again happy days for the Hum!

Food-wise Wendy is proud of her chef and I must say I have discovered something else yummy – whitebait – little fish in breadcrumbs – VERY tasty! We were served by the lovely Pam – nothing was too much trouble for her. She made a HUGE fuss of me and really worked hard to make sure everyone was happy.

I was a tad upset when Hum sent her scotch egg back 😦 I mean I LOVE scotch egg BUT Hum said it should have been served warm with a runny yolk and it was cold and hard so back it went and we got pork stroganoff instead which Hum really enjoyed.

The next morning we were joined by family and had breakfast together. It was a buffet breakfast and I now know that I don’t need to do my separation anxiety thing when Hum goes up to nice smelling big metal boxes ‘cos that’s where breakfast is hiding…

I enjoyed the scrambled eggs and although some of the residents said they looked a bit dry, Hum said they tasted better than the Hilton in Northern Ireland so that is good! And she loved the mushrooms and crispy bacon.

She also said the Americano coffee was excellent! And she is SO fussy with her coffee that is praise indeed!

So all in all Hotel Wroxham is a nice place to say in an excellent location. Really close to all the boat tours; near all the shops (including the famous Roys of Wroxham) and with a lovely walk nearby along the water for us dogs to exercise and explore. Just find the tourist info place and go down the path beside it to get to the walk.

There is still a lot for Wendy to do in terms of styling the place but for having been there for only 4 weeks Hum thought it was Fab and wants to return when more refurbishment has taken place.

I hope as well that when Wendy sorts it all out she starts providing stuff for us doggies. Hum showed her what some other hotels did and she said certainly that would be something she could add.

I award 3 paws for now – I am sure when we go back it will be a high 5….

The Globe Inn, Wells-Next-The-Sea, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi Dog pals,

I forgot to tell you about another place Human Mum (Hum) took me when we were down in Norfolk.

We had heard from a nice man walking his Dalmatian on the Buttlands (grassy place) in Wells-Next-the-Sea, that the Globe Inn had rooms where dogs could stay and that they were really nice!

SO Hum decided we should check it out. Now we had visited the Globe Inn previously with Hum’s Mum when we were down just after Christmas 2014 and we got to sit in a little tiny room called a snug and had a really nice meal BUT we hadn’t known about the rooms then.

A nice, friendly man called Mark showed us one of the rooms and I must say it was very well kitted out! It was a big airy room (Hum’s words) with a nice view over the Buttlands which Hum also approved of – she does like a good view out the window does my Hum.

I was more impressed with the bed provided for us four legged people AND a nice blankie! There were also dog bowls and a little bag of treats! I wasn’t allowed to sample the treats as it was set up for a dog coming to stay but they smelt good!

You can eat with your humans in the bar area and if you are booked in to stay you get to reserve a table and get proper waiter service for your meal.

Sadly we weren’t staying and if you are not a resident you can’t book in the bar – you just have to take pot luck at getting a table and then your humans have to queue at the bar to order food.

I am sure most of you other dog friends are OK with this and Hum does say I need to get over something she calls ‘separation anxiety’ BUT it was a hot sunny day and lots of people were queuing for drinks and I couldn’t see Hum from our table and she was away for like EVER! I thought someone had kidnapped her! I mean it took longer for her to order the food than it did for it to be cooked and delivered to our table!!!

So best if you are a resident and then you don’t need to be left while your humans go to order food and stuff.

When Hum was back and I calmed down and the food arrived it was lovely – really delicious so definitely a good place to go as long as you don’t have this separation thingy like me…

Check the photos of the room, the meal (Hum got yellow potato balls with her fish!) and I have included one of me on the beach ‘cos I found another Poochon to play with! Yeah!

The Globe Inn is very dog friendly if you are a resident – all that lovely stuff in the room etc. BUT is let down by non-residents not being able to book and therefore the need to queue for food in the bar so sorry you have to lose a star for that.

Zuki

Zuki’s new BioSafe Toy

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my doggie pals,

Human Mum (Hum) went out shopping today to get Ben some stuff for University where he is going to be educated apparently ‘cos he needs it apparently….nuff said.

Anyway when she came back home she had got me a present! I LOVE when Hum goes shopping ‘cos she often buys me stuff ‘cos she feels guilty leaving me. Not that I am spoilt or precious or anything….

Anyway let me tell you about this toy. It is in the shape of a lemon and is special ‘cos it is BioSafe.

Hum had met the lovely Bev Panter at a Social Media Course she went on. Bev owns Rosewood Pet Products and they have these BioSafe toys for us dogs!

I had to ask Hum what BioSafe meant but apparently they have something called BioCote incorporated into the toy and that means the toys resist the growth of bacteria and so are safe if for example you have little people in the house and they touch the toy after we have been playing with it!

Pretty amazing stuff really – Hum wanted me to try one out ‘cos we get visited sometimes by little ‘M’ and little ‘M’s’ Mum worries about my germs I think…especially as little people don’t always know the difference between their toys and ours.

SO I had a good play of chase in the garden with my lemon toy and it is really easy to grip with my teeth AND it Squeaks!! Yeah! I love a squeaky toy! Then I had a good old chew to test how tough it is and it IS tough! Hum says it smells nice too!

So here we are – a big thumbs up for Rosewood Pet Products and a BIG THANKS to Bev for them producing great toys!

The Devonshire Fell, Yorkshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hey dog pals,

Last stop at another lovely dog friendly place that I can really recommend to you. This is the Devonshire Fell in Yorkshire and we set off from Scotland and drove here with Hum getting grumpy and saying lots of what I am sure are naughty words to sat nav lady as she took us on more twisty windy roads cross country BUT she avoided the traffic queues so Hum calmed down and we arrived safely.

The Devonshire Fell is listed on our website along with all the other Devonshire owned places. Hum was most kind – she got a room offered at the Devonshire Arms Bolton Abbey BUT ‘cos they don’t let me eat with Hum there she said we would stay here even though there was only a small room available.

However when we got there we had an upgrade to a Fell View super-duper room! Big and beautiful and just lovely and matching my blankie!!! Hum should really appreciate me sorting all these upgrades for her! She super loved the décor.

The Devonshire Fell do not at this point in time provide anything for us doggies for our stay so you need your bed; blankie; bowls; food and treats….BUT I had a word with Helen and showed her my piccies of what Trigony provided and she was like ‘We SO need to do this’ so I expect it will be happening very soon! Helen told us where we could go for walks and we had a lovely play in the garden which is really nice!

We met some people who had been out for a grouse shoot and so I met real working gun dogs – impressive! Still I do work for a living too – I am just much more current really! A modern working dog with my blog and all.

Later when we were sitting in the lounge Helen came along with a toy for me!! She had found it and said I could play with it during my stay. It was great – another kindness from Helen who Hum said was the friendliest host so far on our journey! Well done Helen 🙂 That is her in the photo with me 🙂 Isn’t she lovely!

Dinner was grouse – not the ones those impressive dogs collected but they were pretty good. Grouse are bird thingys that don’t really seem to escape the shoot very well and taste very meaty. More high quality food produce for you my friends to be introduced to!

The room was very comfy and Hum slept good. Very good except she said the pillows were not as good as at Trigony House in Scotland.

After a quick trip outside for me Hum had a shower bemoaning the lack of face flannel again but LOVING the toiletries – she usually uses her own shampoo but used the shampoo and conditioner here and said it was excellent even on her dry unruly hair! She also loved the fact she had a cafetiere for making coffee and there was a little fridge on the landing with fresh milk. She was very happy about that! She is always a happy Hum with good coffee in the morning. Well done Devonshire Fell!

She also liked having a proper dressing table with power point close by to do her hair and it was well lit for her to sort her make up. An excellent and well designed room she said! Praise indeed from the Hum!

Breakfast was yummy – scrambled eggs and sausage and we got to sit in the conservatory with a lovely view for Hum. Afterwards we went for the walk Helen had recommended. There is a lovely walk along the river and I was able to be let off lead for quite a way.

Where in Scotland the silly woolly sheep things wander all over the place even onto the road, in Yorkshire they are kept safe in fields with high stone walls. However, further along the river walk, we found that in Yorkshire the big cow animals are allowed to wander around and Hum put me back on lead even though I was only running up to them to say ‘hello’ – they didn’t seem to be too bothered and just lay there staring at me so I don’t know why Hum was worried.

Back to the hotel to pack up and leave. Feeling really sad as this was the last stop on our BIG Summer Adventure and we had to head home.

Still I am sure we will be on our travels again sometime soon and I can tell you about more fab places to take your humans to.

A good solid 4 paw prints for The Devonshire Fell – should deserve another when they start providing beds etc. for their four-legged visitors.

Trigony House Hotel, Dumfriesshire, Scotland

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Well Well Dog Pals,

Have I got news for you! I think I have just found THE NUMBER 1 Dog Friendly Hotel EVER!!!!

We were later than intended getting to Trigony House Hotel as silly Hum managed to lock her keys in the boot of the car at her Mum’s house and so we had to get on a later big floaty Ferry boat thing.

I didn’t set the alarms off this time on the car deck BUT I did chew through my strap and managed a wander around the car. Hum didn’t look very happy about that….and I was SO pleased to see her!

After a journey where Hum said bad words to the Sat Nav lady ‘cos she took us a twisty road way, we arrived at Trigony House Hotel near Dumfries in Scotland.

Well I can see why Hum wanted to be here early to enjoy it! Our room was just A-Maz-Ing!!!!! Totally AWESOME!!!! A BIG room with a conservatory just for us to sit in and our own private garden!!!!

I had a bed and bowls provided and there was a lovely little gift box for me too! There was a welcome note and inside a message from Roxy and Kit the dogs that live here letting us know that whatever I needed could be provided! AND there was a biscuit, treats and a map to tell us where we could go for a walk. Now that is SUPER friendly!!!!!

Hum was happy with the room too. She got a proper dressing table with a socket nearby so she could sort her hair out – she always complains when the power is too far from the mirrors. In the big bathroom she was delighted to find those elusive face flannels she always likes to see. And she loved the rain shower.

As it was quite late we didn’t try a walk in the evening and after all I had my garden to explore and play in.

Dinner was delicious and I met Roxy – I didn’t growl at Roxy like I do some other dogs ‘cos she was big and friendly and it is her house after all. Dogs can be with you in the bar area and you can eat there and there is another little sitting room we are allowed in. Only the main restaurant is out of bounds but still there are more rooms for dogs than just for Humans here so that is the best we have found so far!

For dinner Hum ordered duck – they are swimmy bird things – not the ones that hiss. They are super yummy I can tell you. Then we had venison which is really deer – they are woodland animals that some people find cute. Not as cute as me I am sure – anyway deer tastes good too!

Hum found her bed super-duper comfy and said it was the best night’s sleep she had had on the journey. She raved about the pillows and said she should have noted the make as she would like to get some for her bed at home! SO she was a happy Hum in the morning and even happier to find good quality coffee in the room! Yeah! At last she has her face flannel, great pillows and good coffee – happy days for Hum indeed!

Oh and she said the toiletries were lovely and she is going to have to buy some of the soap! She is quite fussy about her soap so that must be a real positive too. Trigony is really doing well for the Human as well as the dogs!

Breakfast and again I met Roxy and chilled with her. The lovely Fiona asked Hum what she wanted to breakfast and then asked me if I would like a sausage! Well that is the first time someone has actually taken my order so a big Plus for Trigony on that one!!!!

Hum had something called kedgeree which had fish and rice and a poached egg and I had my sausage and a bit of hers to taste. Very good indeed. Hum LOVED it and was reluctant to share for once.

We went for a walk following Roxy’s directions and had a lovely time exploring the woods. Back to the hotel for a couple of photos with the lovely owner Adam and then back to our room for me to start this write up, have a game of ball and let Hum have a cup of coffee and a bit of morning TV watching.

SO I can totally absolutely recommend Trigony House Hotel. PLEASE bring your humans here and have a good time.

I think I will have to create a PAW award and give it to this hotel. Defo number one on our road-trip and I would even say most dog friendly of all the hotels we have stayed in to date!

If I could give it 10 paw prints I would but Hum says it isn’t easy to do that on my website BUT I did manage to make the Paw Prints BIG so you know it really is a top 5 paw print place to stay – make sure your Humans read this and COME HERE SOON!!!!!

The Salty Dog Hotel & Bistro, Bangor, Northern Ireland

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again Dog Pals,

Our next stop on Our Big Adventure was at a seaside place called Bangor. The hotel was called The Salty Dog and had pictures of dogs around; the wall paper had stylized dogs and salt shakers on and there were paw prints on the walls and even on the waiters’ shirts! They like their dogs all right!!!

We were meant to be in a room split in two between Hum & me and her Mum but that room was right at the top of the hotel and I can’t count but there were like lots and LOTS of steps – and we went up and up and then round and down and then up again and again. Maeve, who checked us in, thought it would be very difficult for Hum’s Mum so they moved us into a room that was much easier to get to. And I had a bed and a bowl and some biscuits provided!

Hum’s Mum liked this other room a lot ‘cos it was big and luxurious and bright and had a view of the harbour and the sea and a seat in the window for her to people watch while we went for a walk. Hum’s Mum LOVES people watching!

After grabbing a bit of lunch – Hum had a thing called a Scotch Egg that was well tasty, Hum & I set off to find the beach. People in Northern Ireland don’t seem to have a great sense off distance ‘cos they kept telling us the beach was just round the corner or a few 100 yards away but we walked and walked and walked for like AGES before we saw the beach in the distance. It was worth it though as there were nice dog folks to play with and chase into the sea and I found a good stick for Hum to throw. Just when we got back Hum’s Mum was REALLY REALLY worried about us – she thought we had got lost!

The food at Salty Dog was exceptional. Hum raved about the homemade breads and she and her Mum had a 3 course dinner as part of their room rate which apparently was extremely good value for money.

Hum ordered pigeon and told me it was a flying bird thing – a country version of the ones I chase in towns. Whatever it was it was SUPER tasty!!!! Yum to the pigeon!!! Then we had pork – this meat comes from a pig and I know what they look like ‘cos I got my Mr. Grunty Pig toy. Pigs are tasty too! I am getting to know my food produce very well. Then she ordered cheese – I LOVE cheese – good meal HUM!!!! And Hum and her Mum said it was delicious too. They love all the homemade stuff and the local stuff. SO the food well surpassed what we had the previous night at the Hilton apparently. Sorry Hilton Hotel but it was just in a different league!

Sleeping wasn’t so good however…..thing is I need to protect my Hum and our room was just above the door to the bar so we could hear people coming in and out. Also everyone staying here seemed to walk past our bedroom door and I couldn’t help it – I just need to bark to alert Hum that someone might be trying to get in. And Hum only had a little bed so I couldn’t get up to protect her properly – I had to bark – honest! Unfortunately it just seemed to upset Hum and her Mum and they moaned about not getting much sleep! How ungrateful of them!

Still breakfast helped liven them up. Once again as it was served away from the restaurant ‘cos of me being there, it was a bit haphazard with things turning up at the wrong time and stuff left off the dishes that should have been on there. Even so, Hum again said that it was excellent quality and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I must say I had to agree – quite superior to any we have had before.

I can definitely recommend Salty Dog as it is one of the few places you can sit in a bar area and have a meal with your dog in Northern Ireland but I think Hum might choose a room at the back next time 😉

I know the people of Northern Ireland love it and one couple even had their wedding there so their dog could be with them. Now those are good dog owners and the Salty Dog a great place to bring your Humans! Find it and enjoy!

Zuki

Hilton Belfast Templepatrick Golf & Country Club, Northern Ireland

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again my dog friends,

From Scotland Hum took me on a big floaty on the water thing called a Ferry which looked quite interesting until I was told I had to stay in the car on my own. Well I made sure when Hum came back that she knew where the car was as I managed to set off the alarm 😉

We stopped with Hum’s Mum for 2 nights and then set off with Hum’s Mum to another hotel. Apparently there are not many dog friendly places in this country of Northern Ireland where Hum’s Mum lives but we were going to try out 2 of them.

The first Northern Irish hotel was the Hilton Templepatrick. We were made extremely welcome at reception and shown to a magnificent big room. It was as if there were 2 rooms – one for Hum & Me and one for Hum’s Mum – certainly there were 2 enormous beds and a lounge area and a big bathroom where they had a sink each! Hum’s Mum said she had seen flats for the elderly smaller than this room!

There was nothing in the room for me specifically but this was rectified. Hum’s Mum had forgotten her book and a nice girl called Stacey got in touch with Housekeeping to see if there were any suitable books in a place called Lost Property. Then a lovely woman called Beata showed up with a choice off books and she was really upset that I hadn’t been catered for. She said they did usually have the rooms set up with stuff for us four-legged visitors so she promptly set off and turned up at our room with a bed/cushion; a bowl AND toys for me!!!! I loved the rope toy especially and she said I could keep it 🙂 BIG thank you to Beata!!!!! Beata is the BEST!!!!

In this hotel we could only eat together in the lobby but they were very kind and brought me water and sorted Hum and her Mum out with dinner. Hum’s Mum liked the lobby as she could people watch and spent the time updating Hum on the wedding party that were coming in.

Hum ordered Chicken Caesar Salad as we hadn’t had that in a while – I thought it was Yummy but Hum noted a lack of bacon and egg. Hey ho – but I guess she is a bit of a Chicken Caesar Salad expert now. It didn’t matter to me – I get the chicken and that was just fine and Hum ate lots of the green stuff and seemed to enjoy that a lot.

Hum’s Mum had fish and chips and onion rings which both she and Hum rated particularly highly! I’m not allowed onions so I can’t comment but they made lots of ‘Oh’ and ‘Ah’ noises and ate them all up so that is usually a really good sign.

In the evening I played ball on a bit of grass near the car park which was fun but in the morning Hum was shown a walk in the grounds towards the golf course which was really lovely and we met other people with dogs and we chased in puddles and it was really REAlly good!

We slept extremely well in our respective big beds and I did try a little while with Hums’s Mum before coming back to Hum. The big beds were very comfy indeed. More comments about sleeping like a log from Hum. Good pillows too! She likes good quality pillows.

Breakfast was a bit hit and miss as I don’t think they are used to serving it in the lobby – things didn’t turn up that should have and the waitress would go off and not return for a long time leaving Hum and her Mum a bit frustrated. BUT we got there in the end. I liked the scrambled egg a lot but was not a fan of the sausage.

So would we stay again YES! Did I like what they provided for us – YES! What did Hum think? Well she LOVED the room and the walk and the atmosphere and how attentive the staff were. BUT it would be nice to have somewhere to sit other than the lobby with your dog and the food could be better for the price.

Definitely think it is worth a visit though and I would defo stay again!

Mabie House, Dumfries, Scotland

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Well my dog pals,

Day 2 of our big adventure and we set off back on the big motorway road and headed north and into a different country! Next stop Mabie House in Scotland!!!

And I must say Hum is quite good at this holiday organising – you really should get your Humans to get in touch and use the K9 Concierge service where she can help plan your travels!

I say this because Mabie House turned out to be a most impressive Hotel with not just gardens BUT a WHOLE FOREST surrounding it! How cool is that! A WHOLE FOREST to play in just outside the hotel.

The hotel was lovely – a big wood panelled entrance that smelt nice – Hum said it was a log fire smell and it was good and welcoming. And big comfy sofas to sit on too!

Our room was REALLY big and Hum was delighted to have lovely views over the gardens to the forest – she does love a good view!

Her bed was GINORMOUS and so was the TV. And there was a checked carpet – Hum said it was like tartan possibly ‘cos we were in Scotland.

Although we got a great welcome and I was let into the bar/restaurant area (where dogs really shouldn’t go), there are no specific dog facilities so you need to bring your own bowls, blankie, bed, food, treats etc. It would be nice to have a few bits of dog stuff around to make us welcome.

The forest was lovely with paths and streams and waterfalls to explore and Hum sat on a bench and phoned her Mum to tell her how good it all was.

The staff at Mabie House were LOVELY!!! Especially Chris. He worked in the bar/restaurant and made sure I had water and that we were looked after and happy.

Hum ordered my most favourite starter EVER! Deep fried Brie so I was very happy indeed! Then salmon – a massive piece of it for us to share so I was well fed! Yum, Yum super Yum!

We both slept ever so well and at breakfast Chris was back and fortunately persuaded Hum to order lots of breakfast for me to share.

She had haggis and potato bread and I had poached egg and sausage – really very tasty. Chris had given us 2 sausages so there was one for me to take with me for treats later. He was SO very kind.

It was wet in the morning so we played ball in the garden and checked out the camping pods before checking out.

I really liked Mabie House especially as a lot of the time we were the only people around and so I was allowed off lead and I kind of settled in and made it home!

Would definitely come again and recommend it but do hope next time they sort some dog stuff to make it a properly dog friendly place to stay.

Zuki
