Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi dog pals,

So Hum and I went to eat at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem @Yeoldetripnott ‘cos Karl the landlord impressed Hum most on the phone of all the dog friendly venues and it wasn’t too far from the Britannia Hotel Nottingham where we was staying.

Given the weather that was excellent even though Hum made me wear my raincoat and you know how I hate it.

Reputed to be the oldest pub in England, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is said to have been built in 1189 and is shrouded in history. The building is partly carved out of the rock on which Nottingham Castle stands.

The cellars in Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem hold a wealth of history, along with some haunted tales and a LOT of beer. The caves are extensive and can lead you a long way underground, far into Nottingham City Centre. The cellars also house the old cock fighting pit and a route up into Nottingham Castle. The Cellars were the main part of the Inn at one time, though with such a high demand from visitors, the pub had to grow and uses the caves as the cellars now.

So far so impressive and as a dog friendly venue it stood up to our tests very well! Even as Hum was photographing outside, the staff were friendly and delighted I was included in the photo! And it didn’t stop there. They were lovely inside as well. You had to grab a table as it came free (you can have dogs in the lower level and it does get busy on Saturday nights) but Hum got a table right by the bar so I didn’t have my separation anxiety when she went to order and the food was FAB!!!!! I mean totally FAB!!!!

A bowl of water came instantly for me and good old Hum ordered the beef rib on a long bone so I not only had the sensational beef – just melting! BUT I enjoyed getting a new bone!!! How cool was that!! Well I thought it was just amazingly brilliant so Thanks Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem!

Well what a fab place and lots of people made a fuss of me and the food was out of this world – great to get to grips with the bone back at the hotel! So I highly recommend Ye Olde Trip to all you lovely dog friends and I think your humans will love the quirkiness of the place and the fact it is historical too! Good place to visit to soak up culture; history and eat good food 🙂 Get there when you can!!!

Britannia Nottingham Hotel

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]So my dear Dog Peeps,

Saturday afternoon and we checked into the Britannia Nottingham Hotel.

Now you see my friends, Britannia Hotel Group is an affiliation partner of Have Dog Can Travel but some people had reported that rooms could be a bit tired and dated and that they aren’t the most dog friendly hotels in the universe.

SO Hum said I had to go and stay and review one and the nearest to us is Britannia Nottingham so off we went!

We didn’t have the best of starts I must say. I don’t think Deepak who was on reception was much of a dog person. There was no big welcome from him for me; indeed no making a fuss of me at all and he straight away got Hum to sign a thing to say she would abide by the rules for dogs staying and pay £50 if anything was damaged by me!! Oh dear!! Did he not know who I am!!!

There was even a clause Hum questioned as it says dogs should be muzzled in public areas but Deepak did say that wouldn’t apply. Thank goodness for that! My friends they need to remove that clause methinks if they want to be considered dog friendly!!

However things did improve from there…This is considered by many to be a budget hotel BUT our room was REALLY nice! We did have an executive room and it was clean and modern and nicely decorated and REALLY big with a work area for me to do my blogging and Wi-Fi and such-like. There was even a clever thing with the desk where you could lift it up to reveal a mirror – perfect for Hum to do her hair!!!

Other good points were tons of power sockets (and right near that nifty mirror); bottled water provided for Hum and lots of tea and coffee with a nice tea pot that Hum approved of. The bed was big and although Hum had brought my blankie, there was a huge purple blankie at the end of the bed which Hum thought was a great idea! And waiting for Hum was a robe and slippers – all in all very good!!

On the downside, the bathroom did appear a bit old & tired and the door didn’t shut properly. There were no toiletries apart from soap (well Hum likes soap so that was fine); no face flannel and no bath mat to step on when coming out of the shower. AND there is nothing provided for dogs who are staying – you need to bring all your own stuff. BUT as noted before, this is not presented as a luxury hotel so you can’t really complain too much….

Downstairs in the café bar in the lobby we met the lovely Victoria who did make a fuss of me and said we should go up to the bar and see if they would let us in there. Dogs are not meant to be in the bar or restaurant but we went to explore and met Bobby; John & Michael. They said it was fine for us to be in the bar ‘cos it was really quiet and also said I could have breakfast there with Hum! John who was the Duty Manager said they really do try to accommodate their guests and if it is quiet and there is no one else eating but us then it is OK for me to be there 🙂 SO plus points for that guys!!! BIG thanks – made Hum happy and a happy Hum is good to have around!

Because we didn’t think we could eat together at Britannia Nottingham Hotel, Hum had rung other places nearby and we went to Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem @Yeoldetripnott for dinner (Blog post to follow).

Back at the hotel and we headed back to our room to chill and for Hum to watch TV and me to put paw to paper and start my blogging.

Hum and I slept really well in our big room. Hum said the bed was super comfy but the pillows were a bit flat. She had found more in a cupboard so that helped the situation. The room was really quiet considering it is next to a busy city centre road and the curtains were really good at blocking out the light – Hum loves pitch black to sleep in. We were quite high up in the hotel and when Hum opened the curtains she was really impressed with the view of the city AND the fact it was a MUCH better day!

We went for a walk before breakfast as it was such a lovely sunny day. We walked back down to Ye Olde Trip for Hum to take a photo in daylight and there was a good grassy area for me near the walls of Nottingham Castle. I met the legendary Robin Hood on our journey – well a statue of him anyway. We also found a shop with a notice saying Dogs Welcome @storefullofcool so Nottingham is definitely improving as a dog friendly destination.

Hum keeps finding more pubs we can visit as well so I am sure we will be back again sometime to fill you in on them!

Back at the hotel Hum had a shower (good and powerful she said), wrapped herself in her robe; had her coffee and caught up with the news on TV. Ah – that was another downside – every time she switched the TV on it did a full scan for channels so it took ages for her to be able to watch what wanted…

Having sorted the TV we set off for breakfast. The restaurant manager confirmed it was OK for Hum to get her breakfast and bring it into the bar to eat. It was a buffet breakfast so Hum set off and I was a good girl and didn’t have too much separation anxiety as I knew food was coming! She had got scrambled eggs and bacon to share with me and tomatoes, mushrooms and toast just for her. I’m not allowed mushrooms but she said they were excellent and had been cooked with lemons. I think Michael who we met last night was the chef so you did good Michael to get a ‘yum’ from Hum!

After breakfast it was time to pack and leave. Hum got her car park ticket sorted and off we went. The car park BTW is just opposite the hotel entrance so very convenient and you get a reduced price if you are staying at the hotel.

So there we go – been and seen one of the Britannia Hotels for you. Is it super dog friendly? No. BUT it is good value for money and in a good location and the staff were as accommodating as they could be. If you want luxury pay more and stay somewhere such as Harts Hotel but if you need a city centre reasonably priced stop-over then Britannia Nottingham Hotel is just fine.

Zuki’s Swimming Lesson

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Well my dog pals,

I have had quite a day today! When Hum went to meet Joe from @boundersphoto on Tuesday, he got us to meet him @SherwoodCanine (Sherwood Canine Hydrotherapy).

Hum did not know this place existed and got all excited about the idea of a swimming pool for us doggy folks! Thing is Hum loves to swim and wants me to join her BUT I is scared of the water! Think it was ‘cos the first day I arrived with Hum I didn’t know about the pond in the garden and I fell in and it was really REALLY scary!

That and the fact that I don’t like getting my beautiful hair wet ;-). Hum should understand that one – I know when she does her swimming thing she does ‘Mummy swimming’ where she keeps her head out of the water so as not to get her hair wet.

Anyway back to today – when Hum found out that Sherwood Canine Hydrotherapy was not just for dogs with injuries or aches & pains, she decided to book me in for a ‘Fun Swim’ so I could get used to the water and might be able to swim with her at the seaside. Mmmmm I thought – Fun for who???

I certainly was NOT looking forward to this.

When we got to Sherwood Canine Hydrotherapy we met Connor and he took us through to the pool room. I had to put on a floatation aid (a sort of padded coat thing) – and you know how I hate coats so not the best of starts. But Connor was real nice and said most dogs aren’t keen on wearing these things but they do help with the swimming stuff.

Connor took me to a little ramp that led into the pool and tried to encourage me in. He tried with toys and balls but I was wise to that trick so he had to just dump me in – I hadn’t realised the floatation thing had a handle on it he could pick me up with! Cheeky Connor!!!

At first I really did not like this AT ALL and tried to get out and show my feelings by huffing and puffing and pretending to have to gasp for air and such-like but Connor seemed to be wise to my tricks too and just kept putting me back in..

Hum went to the end of the pool and called me and got me to swim to her and well what do you know I started to feel OK and actually to enjoy myself and by the end of the session was jumping in by myself and swimming to Hum!

So BIG thanks to Connor (I did give him a few soppy thank you kisses) and I know I have a happy Hum. I wasn’t keen on the shower after OR the blow dry machine – it was more like a reverse hoover and really powerful (I don’t like hoovers either)…so instead Hum wrapped me in my towel-coat and made me wear that all the way home and Yes you’ve guessed it, I am not a big fan of towel-coat either but it was better than the big blower!

Well I need some rest now ‘cos I is exhausted after all this exercise but you may be pleased to know I have booked in for next week – will maybe do a video to share with you all.

Hanbury Manor, Hertfordshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi my doggie friends,

Hum and I are just back from a visit to Hanbury Manor @hanburymanor in Hertfordshire. Hanbury Manor is on our Listings so when we had to go to take Ben back to University in Hertfordshire it seemed sensible to combine that trip with a Dog Blog review.

Hanbury Manor started allowing dogs to stay just 2 years ago and Simon the Sales & Marketing Director was keen to get the hotel on our website as he wants to start promoting dog friendliness more. SO we set off to check how the hotel was doing so far and to meet with Simon to hear his plans and offer any advice we could.

We got a great welcome from Demi at reception who had spoken to Hum on the phone and seemed to be properly in love with me (I am sure she upgraded us to a Prestige suite rather than room because of me) – Hum really should be most grateful to me!

It had rained and rained and rained so I was somewhat wet and muddy and when we got into our room Hum dumped me straight into the bath and gave me a shower even before I had time to check out our surroundings! She said it was ‘cos it was all so beautiful and she didn’t want me to mess it up!

SO I can tell you first that the bathroom was simply stunning – really big and with all the stuff Hum loves. She got her face flannels; proper bars of soap; a demisting mirror; appropriately positioned towel rail and a heated towel rail also; big fluffy robes and slippers and what she announced were excellent quality toiletries! Happy, happy Hum 🙂

Things are not yet so good for us four leggy people. I can tell you this is the first place where we stayed and Hum got treats instead of me!!! Lucky Hum!! There was no bed or bowl but this turned out to be a small oversight due to the staff being so busy over the Christmas period. They are usually provided as a matter of course. Anyway Hum had brought my bed, bowls and my blankies so all was good. And amazingly my blankie matched the décor – clever Hum!! She had also put in my towel – just as well as I needed a shower after every time we went out! Great British weather!!!

The rest of our suite was totally amazing according to Hum. In fact she just let out a ‘Wow’ and then was speechless for the first time I have known!! It really was that good 🙂

We had a little sitting room cum dressing room and then the bedroom which was enormous. There was a lovely chair and stool combination which formed a sort of chaise which of course Hum loves and I must say I really enjoyed chilling out on it and catching up on some TV.

Hum approved of the fluffy pillows; the enormous comfy bed; the dressing table with huge mirror and sockets by it to plug in her hair dryer and especially liked the fact there were blinds and curtains so she got her really dark room that she totally loved. She slept really well! I had to wake her up to take me out for my morning ablutions. She did think that the quality of coffee could be better in the room and as there was a fridge in the room it would have been nice to have fresh milk.

Hanbury Manor really does look after the human folks rather well. There is a spa and a golf course and nice restaurants and a lounge for afternoon tea. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in any of these at the moment which is a shame as Hum really fancied the menu 😦

We took ourselves off a mile down the road to the Anchor Inn for dinner instead. The Anchor Inn is on the outskirts of Wadesmill and serves good quality/value pub grub. All the staff (especially Connor) made a huge fuss of me and we had a chicken burger (well I had most of the chicken and Hum had all the other stuff – I am sure she really enjoys bread and salad)….

In the morning Hum took me out to explore the grounds and Hanbury Manor really does have lots to explore! We were given a map by reception and set off to find everything on it. The walled garden was rather lovely especially as I could get off lead safely. We also found a little cemetery; the rose garden and my absolute favourite the Secret Garden.

When we came back and after yet another shower, breakfast arrived in our room! Hum had ordered eggs benedict and I can tell you this is an exceptionally tasty dish indeed! And very nicely served!

After breakfast we had a meeting with Simon in the Oak Hall (one of the places I shouldn’t be if people are eating). Simon is an extremely elegant & charming man and offered Hum tea in proper china cups and ensured we had a lovely seat by the big fireplace. He was very keen to hear our thoughts on Hanbury Manor and very open to suggestions.

He was most apologetic about my missing bed but showed us what was usually on offer – really very lovely! High quality indeed! Hum filled him in on what she felt might be essentials – dog towels by the entrance and dog bins and poo bags around the grounds. They then discussed what other hotels offered in terms of items in the room and Hum suggested something to protect the beautiful white linen such as a throw.

Simon told us they were planning on sending letters out to us doggies to welcome us tell us where we are allowed etc. He is also hoping to get a dog walking map supplied at reception. I think these are fantastic ideas and hope he gets them in place soon for you all to enjoy!

Finally he took us to see different rooms in Hanbury Manor that could be opened up to allow Humans to sit and eat/drink but with their canine companion with them. We looked at the library; the cocktail bar and Vardons Bar & restaurant. Personally I think the cocktail bar looks ideal but I am sure they will find the place that they feel suits all their guests best.

SO we left Hanbury Manor very happy indeed – I am pleased we could be helpful and really do look forward to a return visit to check on all the improvements.

At the minute I award Hanbury Manor 3 ½ paws but I know Simon is keen to get the upcoming Zuki ‘Paward’ for best hotel so expect at least a 5 paw next visit!

Zuki’s trip to Nottingham

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi Dog Pals,

Me and Hum went on a little trip yesterday to Nottingham @NottinghamTIC ; @MyNottingham.

Just ‘cos I had my hair done recently, Hum had to copy and have hers done.

She didn’t want to leave me at home so had done some investigating to find more dog friendly stuff for me to tell you all about and so we set off to the bus stop to travel on @ProntoBusRBX run by @trentbartonlive.

The Pronto Bus arrived on time and off we set. When we got to Nottingham, the Pronto Bus driver was really kind to me and let me sit in his seat and pretend to welcome people on-board. I SO wanted to work the ticket machine but it is a bit tricky when you have paws…

En-route to the hairdressers we stopped off at a shop called LUSH. Hum loves @lushcosmetics– they sell smelly stuff in there for humans to use when washing and she uses Ro’s Argan body conditioner in the shower and comes out smelling lovely to cuddle into 🙂 Anyways all the staff in LUSH love me and EVERYONE wanted a cuddle so I gave them all Christmas kisses which they said made their day! Lovely LUSH people!

On to the hairdressers where HUM took AGES to get her hair done – much longer than when I get mine done – I think it is ‘cos she needs a bit of enhancement to her hair colour where I is just naturally beautiful 😉

When Hum was finally finished being beautified we walked through the fabulously Christmassy Market Square where I wanted to test all the food stalls as they smelt amazing but Hum said ‘no’ as we were going to eat at The Castle Pub @TheCastle_Notts which is one of the few pubs in Nottingham City Centre which is dog friendly. And they are very dog friendly indeed! Everyone made a HUGE fuss of me and the customers all wanted to meet me too! I got a bowl of water provided and Hum ordered a pretty special Bacon & Cheese Burger – really, really delicious and now I know that burger cheese is YUMMY!! Why hasn’t Hum introduced me to this before! Anyways I can totally recommend The Castle Pub for you to take your Humans too. You will get a great welcome and good food 🙂

If you need somewhere to stay @HartsNottingham is a dog friendly hotel – find it in our listings and one of my early Blog posts – we stayed there and it is lovely!

Hum decided we would go home in style so she hailed a cab @NottinghamTaxi and I found out what a taxi is. Really quite lovely to have our own chauffeur! Definitely my style! But do note not all taxis are dog friendly so do make sure your humans check before getting in 🙂

Sadly no photos of me travelling in style – it was too dark and our lovely driver Saqib forgot to put the flash on 😦

Never mind I am sure we will travel in style again sometime – I do hope so!

So dog pals if you get the opportunity do take your humans on a trip to Nottingham – it really is rather wonderful especially at this festive time of year!

Zuki

Beck Hall Malham, Yorkshire

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]beckhall dog friendly 8So my dog friends,

We sadly left Ox Pasture Hall and after a run on the beach at Scarborough, we headed off to Beck Hall Malham @BeckHallMalham. This is the place Hum saw on @channel4 @4inabed and we thought it was crazy that people complained about its dog friendliness so we decided a Dog Blog review was in order!

The journey was not great – it had rained and rained and rained and Andy the owner had called and warned us but Mrs Sat Nav chose to ignore his advice and took us down little twisty, flooded roads and Hum got all stressy but hey ho we got here OK.

The river was very high and to get into Beck Hall Malham you had to cross what Hum called a ‘delightful little bridge’ and I called scary! The river was right up to the top of the bridge and was SO fast flowing I was sure I could’ve got washed away seeing as how I is just a little dog so Hum carried me over 🙂 Thanks Hum 🙂 you are nice sometimes.

We were welcomed by the charming Charlotte who got Hum a cup of tea before checking us in – ‘what a lovely welcoming gesture’ said Hum. We went into the snug and met other dogs and their Humans who were doing a walking holiday and Hum met Diane from @DogWalkHolidays and she recognised me!!!! Hey, how cool is that!!! I am getting to be almost famous I think!

The snug was really cosy and there is a loyalty bar for the humans and a lovely fire and comfy seats and rugs and generally it was just a nice place to be and both Hum and I calmed down – her from the drive and me from the bridge!

We were shown to a lovely Riverside room and Hum couldn’t have been happier. Sofa to sit & watch TV; window overlooking the river – she loves water and a view so she was ecstatic!! Lovely! Lovely! Lovely! She squeaked! She also got a bottle of that Prosecco stuff she likes so a very very happy Hum.

She loved the décor – the wallpaper especially with ducks on it; the fact she had a mirror near a power point to do her hair; a flask of real fresh milk for her coffee; lots of coat hooks/hangers and a place for muddy boots.

She did feel it might be advisable for Andy and Louise to supply dog towels – she wasn’t fast enough and oops! I got muddy paws on the duvet before she could unpack my towel and blankie. Sorry Andy & Louise! REALLY! I was only trying to say hello to the little dog on the cushion….

After attempting to wash the duvet Hum continued to explore – fab looking shower – no bars of soap or face flannel and Hum would prefer quilted toilet paper BUT a proper heated towel rail and everything immaculately clean.

We had a walk into the village and stopped @TheListerArms where I got a homemade yummy dog biscuit!

Back and time to get ready for dinner and my date with Wookie (Andy & Louise’s dog). Hum had had votes as to what from @neckwearfordogs I should wear and the bow was most popular so I got dressed and Hum put on another of her many, many dresses and off we went to the delightful Secret Garden Restaurant.

Well my pals – Wookie stood me up!! I mean ‘ME’ – Wookie stood ME up!! How very dare he!!! But he tweeted to say it was his Hum’s fault so I forgave him. Hum was hoping for a ‘When Wookie Met Zuki’ moment but not to be and anyway who needs a doggy dinner date when you have a perfectly cooked steak to eat!!!

AND some lovely Yorkshire and Lancashire cheese which Hum said was in perfect condition and even asked if she could take some home! Good menu choices from Hum this evening – I REALLY enjoyed dinner! Yum Yum!

Hum slept extremely well – said the bed was super comfy and the pillows good. Before breakfast we had another walk in the woods by the river – easier in daylight and I was able to be off lead until we got to the village. Hum says Malham is a really quaint village and loved that the parking pay machine was just a milk churn!

Got back and Wookie is definitely a much loved dog – there is a statue of him by the entrance. Hey Hum where is ‘my’ statue now I is getting famous and all….

When we got back Hum had a shower and said it was really, really, really good. Super powerful which she likes. After the shower and Hum’s caffeine fix with REAL fresh milk it was time to get ready for breakfast.

I decided to wear my pink fluffy heart from @neckwearfordogs and I met Prince a golden retriever who said I looked real pretty and Wookie was a fool not to have turned up last night!

Breakfast was yummy – poached egg and local butcher’s sausages. After breakfast Charlotte told us how to get to Malham Cove for a walk. Malham Cove featured in a Harry Potter movie and is pretty spectacular according to Hum but I was more interested in the sheep and meeting the other dogs who had been staying at Beck Hall Malham and were also out for their morning walk.

Back to sadly have to say goodbye and Andy saw us off. He liked my suggestion about supplying towels and would consider moving the treats into the snug so there could be a ‘dog bar’ beside the human one.

So well done Beck Hall Malham – you are a super nice proper dog friendly place to stay and I hope you get lots more visitors. I LOVED my time here and Hum said it was magical!

Ox Pasture Hall Hotel, Scarborough

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Ox Pasture Hall Dog Friendly 0Hi Dog Pals,

Hum is super proud of me and happy ‘cos I got us invited to a very lovely dog friendly Country House Hotel called Ox Pasture Hall, @oxpasturehotel, near Scarborough. Shaun the owner offered us a stay in a luxury suite so as I could do my Dog Blog review of Ox Pasture Hall. Thanks Shaun!

After a relatively uneventful journey as Mrs Sat Nav behaved herself and took us on good roads, we arrived at Ox Pasture Hall.

Hum thought it looked really pretty from the outside and we were welcomed by the very friendly Jenny. Jenny let me do check in and made a big fuss of me before taking us to our suite.

Our suite was across a little courtyard with a fountain in it – big plus points as Hum loves a water feature!

When we got in, Hum did that little happy squeaky noise she does when she is pleased and excited. I was worried she would show me up by doing her happy dance but thankfully she left that until we were on our own! Phew!

Jenny also took us to show us where we would eat and where to go for a walk. She really was most kind and attentive.

Hum really liked the room or rather ROOMS, ‘cos we had a lounge AND a bedroom!! Very posh! So Hum did her looking around and her ‘Oh Zuki, look at this’ over and over – she was indeed a happy Hum.

The bathroom was enormous and Hum said it had the Wow factor with a big wet-room style rain shower and 2 basins with sort of water fall taps so I have had to include a photo for your humans to see. Hum said the tiles were lovely marble and the finish was superb. And there was a proper bar of soap AND she got her face flannels so I got a very contented Hum 🙂

She did find some little weaknesses – there was no towel rail in the bathroom for her to hang used towels up – the radiator could be replaced maybe with a heated towel rail? There was no soap dish so she didn’t know where to put the soap when it was wet.

Other things she noted were that there was no dressing table mirror near a power point for her to do her hair. She also felt there could be a coat hook somewhere for wet outdoor coats so you didn’t need to put them in the wardrobe.

I thought she should be extremely happy with what she got seeing as how she was only there ‘cos I got us invited!

From my point of view there was nothing provided for dogs in the room – perhaps even just a towel in the entrance to the rooms would be a good idea as it is walking country and we four-legs can get muddy?

In the bar area again no dog treats and some other ladies were disappointed that there were no biscuits for the humans with their cup of tea.

All that aside, Ox Pasture Hall really does make dogs feel very welcome and the staff are absolutely lovely. There were other dogs in the bar and Lynsey the Manageress brought me a big bowl of water and then checked what I would like to eat for my dinner – how cool is that!!!!!

Hum had a ‘really, really good’ pot of tea and chatted to other guests with dogs and I had a play with a little dog called Doris. After Hum’s ‘really, really good’ pot of tea, we went outside where Jenny had shown us to go for a walk. The grounds were lovely – extensive gardens, a lake and some deer which turned out not to be real – thank goodness! We had a walk and played ball and met Doris again.

Hum said she could see that this would be a fantastic wedding venue and that even in the rain it was really beautiful!

Back to the room which Hum said I had to tell your Humans was not only spacious and nice décor but spotlessly clean. She says that is really important to humans.

When it was time to go for dinner, Hum put on one of her many dresses from Annie’s shop and said I should look nice too and wear my pearl necklace to show I appreciate the standard of Ox Pasture Hall.

What a treat dinner was! We had just the BEST service. Shown to our table by Alan and he gave Hum a glass of Prosecco whatever that is – all I know is Hum liked it a lot. I got a proper big bowl of water and then the food began.

Hum got something called an amuse bouche and she was in heaven as it was scallop. Then she got homemade bread with special butter and raved about that too. By this time I was like – hey where’s mine? BUT she had ordered a pigeon starter which she said was delightful to look at and I can tell you was even more delightful to eat ‘cos she shared it with me 🙂

The lovely smiley Paul arrived then and served me chicken that Chef had prepared especially for me!!! This was super-duper, fantastic, excellent and I LOVED it!!! Hum had duck and I guess this is one of the first times she has been able to enjoy one of her choices & not had to share it with me ‘cos Chef cooked me my very own meal!!! Super yummy food and Hum said great service! Happy days – Hum really enjoyed her duck and said it was really beautifully presented fine dining of an excellent standard. Can’t get better than that Chef!

So although Ox Pasture Hall doesn’t provide some of the things other hotels do for dogs (blankets, beds, treats etc), cooking a meal especially for your dog certainly is very special and dog friendly indeed!

Hum slept well in her big bed and said the pillows were good quality. In the morning after a walk in the grounds Hum tried out the rain shower, wrapped herself up in the lovely fluffy robe provided and had her morning caffeine fix while watching the news.

At breakfast again the service was superb and this time chef cooked me some scrambled eggs. Another YUM!!

Thanks Ox Pasture Hall for treating us to a truly wonderful stay. Excellent food; room and Fab-U-Lous staff!

This is a place I would highly, highly recommend you get your humans to bring you AND only just a short drive from Scarborough where North Beach is dog friendly part of the year.

What to Wear on Dog Friendly Travels?

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Hi Dog Pals,

We will be off on our travels again at some point soon Hum tells me – yippee!! I do like hotels – nice rooms; people making a big fuss of me and great food!

SO we have been invited to stay at a dog friendly Country House Hotel called Ox Pasture Hall @oxpasturehotel so I can review it for you my friends. Ox Pasture Hall really does ‘get’ that dogs are part of the family and humans just don’t like leaving us behind if they go on holiday. In fact it says on their info, ‘Ox Pasture Hall Hotel welcomes both dogs and their well-behaved owners.’ Quite right too!!!

Hum thinks it looks REALLY, REALLY nice and can’t wait to go visit. She is such a lucky Human Mum what with my Dog Blog getting us invites and visits to places and such like!

After Ox Pasture Hall we are going to try another Yorkshire dog friendly place called Beck Hall Malham @beckhallmalham which we saw last week on the TV!!!! Yes indeed it was on the telly! On a programme called Four in a Bed, @4inabed. Hum was surprised and I was outraged that some of the people complained that Louise and Andy, the owners put more focus on dogs than humans 😉

I mean Louise and Andy set the place up to be really dog friendly, not just dog tolerant and so we is going to visit and I will review and hopefully share all the dog friendly wonderfulness the place has to offer 🙂

But now my friends I has a dilemma. What to wear at these loverly places. I got my gifts from ChaChaRocks @neckwearfordogs and just don’t know which suits me and the situation best. Please help me decide! And Hum has made it worse ‘cos she liked the things from @neckwearfordogs SO much she bought me a loverly sparkly Bandana!

Please see photos of me in the bow; fluffy heart, pearl necklace and Bandana and contact me either through Facebook or Twitter to vote!

Big thanks to you all for your help!

Lots of love, Zuki[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2594″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]]

Wells-Next-The-Sea, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hey dog pals,

Hum and me are back in Norfolk at the caravan in Wells-next-the-Sea. Hum is always REALLY, REALLY happy at the ‘van’!

Hum’s ‘van is with @orchardcaravans and we popped in to see Donna and Bev in the office to say hello ‘cos they are so lovely and Hum says having the ‘van’ on The Orchard Holiday Park is like a home from home and her bolt hole and it just makes her happy to be here! I do like a happy Hum!

We headed next to the Wells Pet Shop to see Dawn who makes a BIG fuss of me and I chose a treat for when Hum takes me to dinner and Hum bought me a new blankie from there so as I wouldn’t mess up the furniture if I got wet and sandy.

Then it was off to the beach so I COULD get all wet and sandy and have LOTS and LOTS of fun playing ball, splashing in the water and chasing others dogs. Hum loves the beach and kept saying ‘wow, isn’t this lovely’ and ‘can’t believe the weather for this time of year’ over and over and standing in the sea and breathing in the sea air and weird stuff that she does.

After that Hum took me to the beach café for a scrummy sausage roll and a cup of tea for Hum.

@wellsbeachcafe now has a bar for us dogs with barrels with names like ‘Pawroni’ and ‘Carlsbark’ which the Humans all find very funny….I still don’t like communal drinking so I got my travel bowl filled and we sat inside where it is super dog friendly and we can watch photos of all the dogs that visit the café. Hum MUST make sure I am featured soon!!!!!

All was going SO well until Hum decided I needed to get rid of some of the sand in my lovely coat and put me in the Wash & Wag! Hum – the water is COLD! You try it sometime and see how you like it! Anyway we met the manager of the Beach Café and he gave us a discount card ‘cos we is regulars and said I might be able to me an honorary member of the K9 Board of Directors so that made up for my uncalled for shower.

We stopped in town at the shop where Hum always buys clothes and had time with Annie who Hum really likes and Hum bought yet another dress – how many does she need!!!! And then went to a dog friendly art gallery! Wells is super friendly to us four-leggy people 🙂

There wasn’t anything happening here for Halloween so I had hoped Hum wouldn’t make me wear the yucky pumpkin suit she bought but I had a horrible feeling I’d be out of luck as I saw it being packed… I tried to get it out of the suitcase when Hum wasn’t looking but she spotted me and made sure it was back in the case 😦

And my fears were realised – out came the pumpkin and I was made to walk through the whole of Wells to @WellsFleece 😦 The shame! The embarrassment!! There were no other dogs dressed up in silly suits – did you notice that Hum??? However when we got to the Golden Fleece Izzy was nice to me and told me I looked lovely and gave me a big hug which made things better and we had yummy food – one of my favourites – Duck no less. YUM!!!!

Next day after more time on the beach (I didn’t get too sandy this time so no Wash & Wag required) we visited a relatively new café called BANG, @banginwells, where there is a sign saying they love dogs and quite like children 😉 Inside is a lovely warm fire and a box of toys for us doggies to play with – great place!!! They even hold ‘dog days’ sometimes with yummy dog treats too!

We also visited @CrownHotelWells which is dog friendly to see if we can get them listed on my website. It is indeed a really nice place and apparently they supply dog beds; towels and treats so a good place to stay! They even have towels by the door for us – most thoughtful!

So my dog pals I am having a super time. Make sure you bring your Humans here @CometoWells! You won’t be disappointed!

If you are a dog just like me, Wells-Next-the-Sea is a great place to be!!!!

The Kings Head, Hoveton, Norfolk

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hi again dog friends,

Thought I might take you back with me to Wroxham, Norfolk to check out another dog friendly venue we found.

Well actually The Kings Head is really in Hoveton but Wroxham and Hoveton seem to join up so I was never sure which one I was in!!!

According to the info: ‘Wroxham and Hoveton St. John are 2 connected villages, split by the River Bure. Most of the village facilities are actually in Hoveton but are generally known as Wroxham.’ So no wonder a little dog like me was a bit confused when the locals don’t even seem to know where they are most of the time!

Anyway after our lovely boat trip @broadstours for Tessa’s party, Tessa decided the humans needed another drink so off we set to The Kings Head and what we found was really rather lovely.

While Hum chatted to the friends and family, Hum’s daughter-in-law Aurelia had found that The Kings Head was really very dog friendly so we had an explore together. Thanks Aurelia!

Not only were Solo and I made very welcome but there was a ‘Dog Bar’ in the downstairs area and a tin of treats called ‘Fido’s Deli’ on a table for the Humans to get us treats out of! How cool is that!

Solo managed not to have any further ‘little accidents’ like he did on the boat and I settled down to enjoy a nice treat until the Humans had finished all their chatting and partying and stuff.

The next day on our walk we went back to The Kings Head to take the obligatory photo of the outside (I do get tired sometimes with all this posing!) and we found another ‘Dog Bar’ outside too!

So thank you to The Kings Head for being so welcoming! I hope we can come back another day and have a meal as well as a drink! I have heard the food is very good and they have a new menu out!
